    Any help available for Python?

well first I would like to say hello to all since this is my first post on the forum. I wouldn't go as far as saying I am 'new' to programming, but I am in no way saying I am 'seasoned' as the only programs I have finished are small minute ones i.e. google from desktop.

Enough about me, the main reason I am here is because I am currently using python to make a program that would allow a user to do some serious social media marketing from your desktop. I have a good amount of scripts for twitter that do a bunch of cool stuff working and some in the interface (I might get into exactly what it does but I feel that should be a seperate thread) but I need it to be able to post to reddit, linkedin, google plus, tumblr, etc. in my personal life, I plan on using this to give me an edge in marketing my music online. I also want it to be 100% FREE for everyone online. It isn't fair for creative minds to have to pay for the tools they realistically crucially need to market it online successfully. theres always a pay per month or a catch. That's why at it's core it was made with my music in mind, but the program should be able to market any idea or product or non profit online. I am just having a few problems with getting important pieces of the software working. i.e. a huge part of the program is going to give the user the ability to automatically follow another users followers in the same niche obviously within the rate limits of twitter I dont want it to be spam at all. well as of right now I am having issues assigning a variable to a return from twitter api to use it later so this feature is currently not available.

so after my part intro part paragraph I did come with just a few simple questions.

    - mainly i am wondering if python is the best language to do this in?

    - does this program seem as practical and helpful to you as it does me?

    - is there anyone out there that would like to be a part of this? I could sure use any help i can get

at any rate i would like to say thank you to anyone who takes the time to read.

Wow, that does seem like a good idea. Answering your first question, python might be a good idea for your idea, but I some would make a web app for making posts to multiple social media sites e.g Use the twitter/Facebook API. Answering your second question, yes. I would love something to post adverts about the games I make. I'm not sure who could help you for this program. If it was me making this program I would probably do this program in Java. Why? It's easier to package into an executable, and most users have the JRE installed.

thank you for your input. just as an update to anyone who cares I have accomplished a lot recently. you can now automaticall follow people from a certain user on twitter and automatically unfollow people who are not following you back. that means that once I put this into the interface this should be a v0.1 release for everyone.

to respond, I did consider using java and plan to use it for whatever my next project is. If i would have thought to consider the process of making an EXE I probably would have chose java. unfortunately I am too far into development that stopping now and switching to java seems like a huge pain.(right?)I did however look into pyinstaller and it seems pretty simple and possible. whenever i try to install py2EXE with pip I get an error saying I don't have a version of python I do in fact have so i'm not sure how to approach that, although I may consider digging deeper seeing as how their seems to be more support for py2EXE. at any rate things are coming smooth for me and I find myself needing less and less help daily but if you still want to be a part I would really enjoy that.

a couple of things I want to add soon:

-cron jobs(?) or something along these lines so the user can close the program and still have their scheduled tweets go through.
-the way things are written, the account you use is interchangeable giving you virtually limitless accounts you an use. I would like to figure out how I can schedule a tweet with one account, then switch to another account and still have the scheduled tweet post specifically on the account it was scheduled with, and not the account you switch.
-have the ability to filter out twitter users of a certain language for more razor sharp markets.
-since it's free I am contemplating putting a small banner ad in the interface that is completely non-intrusive to the user considering the "donation" days of the internet are quickly coming to an end.

these are just a couple of things I am working towards and seem to be gaining ground. I appreciate the feedback and generously welcome more!
