Creating a Facebook share link that pops-up

I'd like to be able to create links that I can place in the photo text descriptions on my (currently unpublished) Facebook business page. This will allow me to provide people with the ability to click the link to share the actual main page, and not have to go back to that page to select share page. I understand how to create the basic link for a share:

What I do not understand is how to write it so that this would pop-up and look the same as a share link would that is selected from the main page itself (where what you're viewing dims and a relatively small "Share this Page" appears in the center, which disappears once you're finished sharing.

I've read that this pop-up function involves some Javascript. The window.open command? Is this correct?

If so, where would the Javascript "go", especially since I'm utilizing this for Facebook and not my own site? Would the code be saved as a .js file, and/or would I need to create a page to host it? How would the resulting share link to place on Facebook look/be structured vs. the above?

    Thanks in advance...
