The role is to develop software for Samsung’s range of wireless chips. The software is written in the “C” programming language and occasionally in assembler. The software runs in a resource constrained embedded real time environment. The role involves developing software through the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, test, debug and support.
The role may involve taking ownership of a major component of a project and being responsible for the delivery of the component to a timescale agreed with the programme manager. This role may involve the mentoring of more junior members of the team.


Perform requirements capture
Task definition and work breakdown including time estimation
Small scale software architecture, hardware/software interface definition
Develops and tests software of major scale and complexity to agreed timescales
Maintenance of software including defect investigation
Delivery of high quality software in line with the department’s processes
Contribute towards the continuous development of the department’s processes
Conducts peer software reviews
Creates relevant documentation following the department’s processes
Assist/Lead external inter-operability and compliance test events
Provide training and guidance to other developers and customers as and when required
Assist and mentor peers working on other software projects

Required Skills:

Degree (or equivalent qualification/ experience) in maths / science / software / electronics
Passionate about software development
Excellent proven understanding of programming languages
Excellent proven commercial or equivalent experience of at least one high level programming language
Excellent proven understanding of software design techniques
Understanding of debug techniques
