View Full Version : Opening a .fla file help

09-11-2006, 08:12 PM

I am working on a web forum and I am trying to edit the templete but they are using a logo that I have never seen before. It works like a .gif image but none of my programs will open it or let me view it.

I used flaming text gimp and it didnt work so last night I went out and got paint shop pro x but it wont do it either.

I have tryed searching for the file ext but I cant find anything about it.

Here are the two files I think one of them is the logo on the forum I need to edit. So my first step is viewing them. if they are what I am looking for then I also would like to edit them.

Thank you very much for any help and advice you can give.

I found a free flash site but the down side is they put a huge add across the bottom of it.

Is there any way to get the add off and make it work in firefox? Right now it only works in IE.
Aslo when I click the link button it should be taking me to http://www.silverhandalliance.com/silverhand but its not its takeing me to http://www.silverhandalliance.com/main.html whitch is not one of my pages

If you can help me out with this that would be great!! It looks really good I think. Check it out if ya want. Silver Hand (http://www.silverhandalliance.com)

Just download the free trial of Adobe Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/flashpro/
You will get full functionality of the program for 30 days.

I got it. So far it will let me open the file but most of the options are greyed out. When I start a new flash everyting works but I dont really know what to do with it.

Any advice?

What exactly are you trying to do anyways? I know you are trying to edit it but WHAT exactly are you wanting to edit? Post the .fla file back up again as it seems that you really know nothing about flash.

*Smiles* Thank you so much! I really dont. I just want to take the huge yellow add off the bottom for starters.

The 2nd thing I was having trouble with is when you click on the next button/arrow to go to the next page. It is linked to the wrong place.

from my start page (www.silverhandalliance.com) the intro will play when you click the link it takes you here (http://www.silverhandalliance.com/main.html) but i would really like it to take you here (http://www.silverhandalliance.com/silverhand)

We still need the .fla file. Without that there isn't much we can do. The link you provided to it in your first place doesn't work.

Less just start over from here and it will be less confusion. I have figured out alot of it already. Now the only thing I would like help with is removing the yellow add across the bottom of the flash page. Theres no fla file any more its only the swf file. and the index.

here is a link to both files (http://www.silverhandalliance.com/silverhand/nf)

Thats really all i have on it. The only other file in that folder is a mid file for some bgsound.

I really want to thank you for helping me out with this if there is anything else you need please just let me know.

Why don't you have the fla file? That was the source of the whole thing. Did you delete it or what? The fla file likely didn't even have the ad. I'm sorry but without that there is nothing legal I can do.

I just went to this site http://www.sophistronix.com/flashg/entry.php?go=freefib and click the enter tab. The pop up that comes up lets you put in all your info and when you are done it will give you 12 different modles of your flash intro. You click on git it and this is the folder it let me download.

Does that mean if I dont want to use it with the add I should try and find/make another one?

Yeah if you don't want the ad then find some other way to make it.
