I am in Internet Programming class and I have assignments due in the next few days...I am stuck with certain portions of my code and I wont pass unless I complete them and they are correct. I have been searching all day...can anyone tell me what is the best way to debug my code ...software suggestions that are free are certainly most welcome :) thanks so much Actually any suggestions of any type ...Im desperate!:confused:

I heard the validator site is pretty good, even helps you fix your errors (sort of walks you through), if I understand correctly?

I will look into it

Also depends on what type of coding you are talking about. If its html then yeah the validator will do fine but if its something like JS I've always found the JS console in Firefox to be useful.

Oh yea I forgot about that, the FF JS console, I started playing with that this week and am finding it to be pretty good for giving ya some guidance with things that are not acting right.

Download Firefox and install Firebug.

you can put an alert in the script to see what is happening to a variable at that point but

I find placing in the HTML

<script> vic=0; </script>
<form name=Show id=Show style="position:absolute;visibility:visible;top:450px;left:0px;" >
<input size=10 name=Show0 >
<input size=10 name=Show1 >
<input size=10 name=Show2 >
<input size=10 name=Show3 >
<input size=10 name=Show4 >
<input size=10 name=Show5 >
<input size=10 name=Show6 >
<input size=10 name=Show7 >
<input size=10 name=Show8 >
<input size=10 name=Show9 >

then using

where vic is the variable of interest
in the code more useful
