View Full Version : IIS on a different drive than Windows.

Currently we have a server with a single hardrive and two partitions. One is 15 gigs and the other is 125 gigs. When the admins set up IIS, they put our root web directory on the 15 gig drive.

So now, the 15 gig drive is filling up. I don't see any reason why we can't just point our root web directory to the 125 gig drive and let the OS be by its self on the 15 gig drive.

My boss just wanted to me to make sure that we won't see any performance issues in doing this. Aside from any code that may use an absolute path that would need to be updated, I would think it would increase performance, or at least have no effect at all since they really are the same phsyical drive. Can someone confirm this for me?

There would be no performance difference, its all the same physical drive. I see no reason why you couldn't do it.

Perfect. That was what I told him too. He just wanted me to get a second opinion yours will do quite nicely. :)
