Hi guys,

I'm having trouble installing the aforementioned HD on a DELL DEMENSION 2350 (yeah, I know its old) and puttin' RedHat on it. The problem is that it does'nt pick up the HD. It says its missing a driver? Even when I plug it in to the ATA/IDE and connect the power supply to it as SLAVE to the HD with XP on it, it just doesn't do anything. I doesn't detect anything, either HD the Seagate or the Maxtor (XP). Can any one help out? Thanks in advance!

Is it on the same channel as your primary hard disk - like your main hard disk as master and slave is this seagate disk? If it is, it's worth a try moving the slave disk to the secondary IDE channel to see if that would make any difference -Also, check your IDE cables. If the drive is set correctly in terms of jumpers and is connected to the motherboard and power properly but still isn't being detected, either the BIOS isn't capable of detecting it on that computer or the disk is knackered.

It sounds like you don't have the jumpers set right. Make sure you set both drives correctly, one to master and another to slave.
