View Full Version : Formattable text boxes

Hi all!!

I've built some time ago a bb.code generator in Javascript.
I'd like to make something similar... but a bit more complicated, a step beyond maybe: is there a way to make text into the "box" formattable?

I mean, if I press the "B" button after selecting some words, I'd like they really appear as bold, not just circumdated by meta-tags like ...[/*].

Just gimme the key to begin, not the whole code, I don't want to annoy you :p !

Thanx in advance

You could look at how some existing scripts (http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/HTMLRichTextArea/) do it.

Maybe someone could get a help by this post of mine:
it seems these links are really useful cause they explain how the main browser make you implement this kinda stuff:
Mozilla: http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midas-spec.html
M$IE: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/author/editing/tutorials/html_editor.asp
while Opera doesn't make this possible, even if it's promised Opera 9 will support this feature.

I'll study those docs and hope they'll help me enough!!
