Howdy Folks
We have a page on our site (1.1Mb) that is exported from excel. It is basicaly a page showing how much money we have in a "virtual account". In excel we never change the date of this file so for example when we upload the page to the server the date on the page may always be 05/05/05. Would this affect cache? For cache to work properly and allow this 1.1Mb file to loads faster to we need to change the date everytime? If this makes no sence i probs dont know exactly what caching does and how it affects our 1.1Mb file.. anyone help me out?

It would take a look at the resulting markup -assuming that this is converted somehow into HTML, but I can tell you in advance that a lot of visitors would gladly lynch you for serving up a 1.1Mb page...

But, again assuming it is converted into HTML, the resulting page in fact changes when the contents change and therefore ought to be reloaded, this of course depending on the visitor's browser settings.

Could you provide a link to the actual page? If it's really that big, please don't attempt to cut-n-paste the markup in a post...

Do you mean the date that the page was edited (like you see in FTP view) or do you want to insert the current date in the Excel document (when people view it)?
