I've been developing a PHP web-based application for over a year now and it's starting to get massive - basically, to large to just keep making the small changes and uploading - we are beginning to lose track of where we're at with version control etc....

is there any good software you guys have used for monitoring checkpoints, version control, change log etc...

thanks for any advice / information :)

Your title says project management software but you are describing mostly configuration management tools.

We use Microsoft Project for project management. For configuration management there are tools like CVS, PVCS Tracker. We use a suite of tools called Razor but it only runs on Unix/Linux as far as I am aware.

I hear SVN is also a popular choice, similar to CVS is it not?

I am using "Protacto". It is a new software for project management (https://www.protacto.com/) with multiple features. Trial version is also available for one month without any credit card details requirements.

Jira and Confluence are almost free for small studios and can handle everything except version control.
Project management. Calendars, SCRUM, Bug tracking, Support handling, etcetera.

Git is currently the hottest version control.

I have tried Jira and I think it works well with the app we are currently developing. But, I am still pondering for something with real exclusivity.
