View Full Version : something not right - please suggest.

I've been looking at the page I'm working on now for quite some time, and there's still something that's not quite right. It seems to look a little empty, but more importantly, it seems to me that the main body of the page and the background seem to clash with each other, and also with the gradient border. However, I',m not sure about this, and truth be known, I can't quite put my finger on the problem. I'm relatively happy with the basic layout, but none the less there's something not quite right.

Could peeps please take a look and make suggesions as to what they think may be wrong, and what they feel would be better?

Before actually reading what you put, I was going to say the green of the content area clashes. Perhaps it would be best left white?

To be honest, I dislike the gradient background, it's too tacky IMO. Perhaps if it was a smoother gradient it wouldn't look as bad.

I also think it looks like the menu is just hovering there - doesn't seem to be part of the page if you understand what I mean. Same with the header image.

And the top left image gradient is slightly out of line with the backgrounds.

Hope you take that all as constructive criticism.

Absolutely - no holds barred criticism is great stuff (well, if it's constructive as yours is anyway :))

What you mention about the menu is of quite large concern to me, as I'm quite unsure about what to posswibly do about it. A friend has suggested using some kind of graphic behind the menu, but I'm laregely clueless on this idea.

background work!, i think it just needs toning down a little, if ur using fading inon the background of the page, a good idea would be to make it calming and centerd, for example a designer i know has used this affect on http://www.bookpitch.com and it works wonderfully!
