View Full Version : How to generate two different numbers for same form on copies of frontend when split

Hi there

I have a database (MS Access 2000) that I have split using the database splitter into frontend and backend , I have now put copies of the frontend on two different pcs so to allow a network sharing, but anytime I try to edit the main form using the transaction number which is generated automatically the same number is coming up on the two forms at the same time.

I need to allow two users to be able to do transactions at the same time , however using different transaction numbers . eg if user one opens the form first and gets 150 and user two opens the same form but on their pc I want user 2 to be able to get 151 which is the next number and update the underlying table.

Right now if user one opens the form and gets the numebr 150 , user 2 can also get 150 and both transactions are updating to the underlying table transaction differently.

I have gone into tools option , tab, default record locking and checked edited record , also I have cahnged the record locks on the form property to "edited records".

However it does not seem to solve the problem.

Pls can someone tell what I am doing wrong or how I can fix this problem,. I have been trying to figure it out to no avail

Many Thanks for ur help in advance
