Hi everyone,

can you please have a look at this www.gurrportraits.com (http://www.gurrportraits.com) and tell me what you think ? (The design is intended to be plain and simple)

I would also like some help on a problem I'm having. With IE everything is fine but with FireFox I am getting a small gap between the top graphic and the menu. I cannot figure out where that gap is coming from...any ideas?

Thanks a lot ;)

define the top images width and height... then make the image a BLOCK level element... FF makes them all INLINE instead of BLOCK like IE...

I think that design is really nice and simple, and 'arty'.

Maybe it could do a few more colours other than the grey, but it looks good to me. :)

I agree with Mark.
The site is very nice and simple, but I think it has a little too much gray for an artsy site.

Thanks for the comments everyone...true the design is highly monochromatic but I think that helps to push out the paintings. It sort of doesn't steal the visitors attention from the paintings.

Thanks for the suggestion SpirtOfGrandeur ...I will try that out

Nice design, but it doesn't validate

Line 14, column 20: there is no attribute "ONSELECTSTART"

<body onselectstart="return false;">

onselectstart appears to be a propietary IE tag. What do you use it for?

thanks for pointing that out...i've removed it and now validates

I like it. Things I'd consider:

- Try removing the rounded border on the homepage thing. It's the only rounded thing on the page, and it looks odd. It wouldn't look so odd if you had the same margin around it as you do the other content. That is, give the rounded box a 10px margin, or square its edges (or try both). Rounded edges touching straight edges looks bad though.

- Decrease the pages' max-width. At that width, content on pages like http://www.gurrportraits.com/sales.php becomes a chore to read because the lines are like 1000px wide. Even with a decreased max width, it benefit from a more narrowed column. Maybe float an image to the right so you can shrink the text column by the width of the image?

- Find a better way to style the titles "Mail Address", "Telephone", etc. on the homepage... I thought they were links because they're underlined :p

That's about it really. None of these things are huge, and they could all be left as they are but I think the design would benefit from your considering them.
