View Full Version : Javascript Mailer: Need to HIDE subject & message from SENDER

Hi Folks,

My 1st post.

OK... I have put a Javascript Tell-a-Friend mailer temporarily on this page:

I have also placed the page's code in a textarea so anyone here can view the code.

As the mailer works NOW, when the visitor types in his friend's e-mail address and then submits the form, his e-mail program pops up, and he SEES the EXACT message he'll be sending, including the pre-filled SUBJECT and MESSAGE fields.

I need to know how to modify the code so that I can STILL have the pre-filled subject and message... but that it NOT be readable when the vistor's (sender's) mail program pops up. I want the subject and the message to show up ONLY to the person to whom the e-mail is sent.

Nothing underhanded in my motive... I will be using this on one of my game pages. The player will mail HIMSELF clues that will show up in the e-mail... But if the clues show up when his e-mail program is activated there will be no reason for him to actually send the mail to himself... and its important that he actually mails the clues and then leaves the page to go read the e-mailed clues. Make sense?

Now, if there is a way to do this without having the sender's e-mail program pop up AT ALL that would also solve the problem... but, the result needs to be the recipient e-mail with a pre-filled subject and message, and no need to download as an attachment.

PLEASE go easy on me. I'm a beginner. Rather than Explain How to do it... I really need to SEE the New Code containing the modifications.

Feel free to e-mail me regarding this code.

It is called, use a server side script! You can not do it with JavaScript.
