View Full Version : Image Rotation on load/reload?

Alright so I am not exactly sure what specific forum this should go into since I have NO IDEA how this would be accomplished...

so here i go.

My "home" page has a main graphic banner that I want to be different (have 3 different graphics) every time you load the page. I dont want it to change while you are on the page, just the next time that page loads...does that make sense? Would like to avoid using JavaScript as much as possible (mostly because I dont know a thing about it yet.)

Also, the client wants the site to be searchable with the search bar and all. I am pretty positive I cant use PHP or ASP...any ideas?

Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

Thanks :D

For rotating images, there are hardly any alternatives besides JavaScript; I guess it could be done using server side scripting as well, perhaps using a cookie to store an index to the image last shown.
A Javascript solution shouldn't be to diffecult, though; I'm sure I've come across something like that on JavaScriptKit, Dynamic Drive or HotScripts some time or another. I'll do some digging lateron, if you can't find any.

Searching for "image rotator" in our own JavaScript forums also yielded some relevant threads... :D

Implementing a search function is no easy task and I can't see a way to pull it of without server side processing in some form; by far the easiest way though would be using Google's free web search (http://www.google.com/searchcode.html).
