I get this error when trying to load an applet in Netscape:

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\Temp\OT_181_1_0.jpg read)

at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)

at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source)

at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source)

at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(Unknown Source)

at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)

at ImageRetriever.getImage(Retriever.java:505)

at ImageRetriever.run(Retriever.java:436)

The same code works fine with Internet Explorer. Does anyone know what the problem is and how it could be solved?

Those errors are coming from the Java applet and not the Javascript. You should ask this question in a Java forum where there will (hopefully) be people who can answer.
