Well, it depends (how's that for an answer! :D ).

Are you connected via a static IP address or through DHCP (i.e. dynamic). If it's the former, you should be able to edit your zone file (DNS information on the DNS server (i.e. ns1.mydns.com) to point all requests for your domain name to your IP. If your using DHCP, you'll have to use a client app to update your DNS info. You can find one of these at several places, such as dyndns.org.

Hope this helps

Okay - let me point out - with this part I'm a dummy lol

I have a Dynamic IP (although it never seems to change), connected via cable.

I currently have a website which is hosted on Yahoo! - If I take it off yahoo, how on earth do I link it up to my puter/server? lol

Thanks in advance!

Well I think there are sites out there that give you software so that you can just not worry about your ip, it just updates it on their server and then you get a thereurl.com/~yourname or whatever and that'll point to your computer regardless of your ip.

Now, you might want to setup a server like apache or IIS .. If you have Win98SE you have PWS on the CD which you can install ... Or if you have XP Pro IIS (ver 5?) is on the CD which you can install .. Or you could go for apache (of many other http servers) .. Apache 2 installs easy, and as long as you are not worried about round the clock rock solid stability I'd go with that ... (www.apache.org)..

Perhaps someone here knows a url for those ip sites ..
