I am gunna be aragont and say, i am very happy with how far i have got in my knowledge of web dev.But now i want to go into c++, python, etc.
I do know the basics of it all, but only command line functions, and ignorant stuff like that. Because i come from SQL, PHP, etc. I still wanna keep up databases, so, my question is, i want, by the end of 2013, to be able to create a fully functional file manager. So, for example my school have rewards for good work called "reds" and "blues" for bad work - i know, pretty boring. And there is a great system, that manages users, their reds and blues, there information, communication stuff, teacher privileges, etc.
So a massive, data based, software made in python, with libraries, databases (hopefully i can use MySQL for something like this??). Where do i start, i know the obvious, like loops, if else, switches, etc. But, c'mon, i want to get into the cool hardcore stuff. So where can i get tutorials for exactly this?

Thanks to all in advance!

Are you wanting to build a web application or a desktop application?
