I want to know if is posible to read a configuration file to create a menu for a page (as if changing the file, changes the menu without having to change the script I created), in Java Script. As u can see itīs the first time Iīm working in javascript.

I need to know what other options there are...

Do iīve to make a servlet to do that??

Please help, iīve a deathline next week...

But, to answer your question, YES, it is possible...

I can't remember the code off of the top of my head but it's pretty easy... and I have an example somewhere...

Actualy Quack thatīs the problem.

Itīs the first time i work with javascript, so i donīt know where to start, Iīm using the JavaScript Bible as a reference book, but it has no clues regarding how to do that.

My goal is to make a script that i can use for all my pages, the menu options keep changing, so with a generic script an a config file I think it shouls work....

Iīll apreciate any help u can give me...

Ok, I understand a little better now

I'd suggest starting out by learning some basic tutorials for javascript (do a search on the net for them - try www.webmonkey.com)

Then, once you get your feet wet and know the basic sytaxes and such, post a thread into the "Post/ Request a script" forum.

You've got your work cut out for you though.. how much Javascript do you know?

What you want to do is not beginners stuff...

Do you have any programming background that may help you out (Such as Java, C++, etc..)

I'll be glad to help as much as I can

Quack, i know is not a begginers stuff... But i think, i can handle it, iīm a computer science student, 4 year, but until now I wasnīt asked to do anything in JavaScript at work, yesterday morning I was "giffted" with the JavaScript Bible and told to make a working Intranet site for mi division for next week...

So if u can give me any help, I think I can handle pretty much everything, but begginers manuals arenīt a way to start with this kind of time, if u know what I mean...

So, Donīt u have the code u told me about at hand ???...

Iīm trying to learn by example... I donīt think is so hard, I know C++, and a little Java, but the object descriptions and the capabilities of the language are a blury area to me... (not so much help from the JS bible... itīs a begginers guide after all)

Thanks Osvaldo...

I'll have to get back to you, I don't have my example of that at work - it's at home - it's been a long time since I used that.

I've tried using
webmonkey (http://www.webmonkey.com)

I got my "feet wet" there but they don't seem to have much up to date information for adjusting your javascript to work in the newer browsers.

see the attached truck.txt

it works in NS4.x but not in NS6 or IE5
