Is it possible to learn on those languages in a year?

It would depend on what programming languages and markup languages you already know and also what sort of apptitude that you have for programming. It would also depend on how much time you intend spending on it each day.

It would also depend on just what level you want to learn each to within that year.

Even with an extensive programming background it would take several years to learn either PHP or mySQL to an expert level whereas learning both to a basic level where you can at least write code that works might only take a few weeks even with no other prior programming experiaence.

HTML and CSS you can learn in 5 days.

PHP about 2 months to do something decent

MYSQL closer to 5 months to do something decent.

Is it possible to learn on those languages in a year?

Hello bigcasey,

This is quite a common question, generally it depends on quite a few factors:

* What prior exposure do you have to programming?
* How much time can you dedicate to it?
* How fast do you learn?

Now saying all this, a year is a good time frame. Assuming the above questions are in the more appropriate end of the scale, then certainly learning all those technologies should not be an issue.

Mastering them is another ball game!

You can lean something fairly quickly, mastering them however takes a lifetime.

I hope that helps.

I'm currently trying to learn all of the above as well and I have to say, once you jump in and start you'll learn like crazy. I do suggest, however, not to rush. Particularly with HTML/CSS because you may begin to think you know everything but as soon as you look at your website on a different computer, things begin to fall apart. Also, since every website requires HTML/CSS it's obviously important. You can be an expert at php but if you make a website and it looks like a dump on someone else's monitor, then you're still out of luck. That being said, I suggest spending a bit more on learning HTML/CSS than five days. At least a month or two devoted just to those.

As for php and mysql, I'm also trying to get started on these so I have no clue of all there is to learn but as the other people said, It depends how devoted you are. Personally, I'm a student getting a CS degree so I spend a lot of my time thinking about code/logic. If you have a background and a desire like me, you'll learn it in no time. Just enjoy it!

Yes it is possible. I can say according to my experience that it will take a month or some more to learn html and css. Html and CSS is not so tough. Then you can learn php. You may find php hard at first, but after practicing some days it will be easier. Then at the last part you need to learn mysql. It'll not take so much time to learn. So you can learn html, css, php, mysql in a year.

Then you can learn php. You may find php hard at first, but after practicing some days it will be easier. .

I already knew several programming styles - procedural, rules based etc before starting to learn object oriented programming and it still took me about two years to properly understand how object oriented works. The only reason I was able to learn PHP fairly quickly without it taking me two plus years is that I had used a different language to learn object oriented programming prior to PHP being created in the first place.

If you don't already know object oriented programming then it will take you at least two years to get past the beginner level with PHP (assuming that you are learning it in your spare time - as a full time job you might get that down to say eight months).
