I am looking for an open source live chat that has a dashboard that I can log in using my website like using the dashboard on wordpress. I want it to be able to chat with clients and i want to be able to put my own logo on the site and configure the online and offline buttons that will match what my site looks like.

I think with all the requirements you've mentioned in the question, I think ClickDesk is probably your best bet, I've monitored the live chat space closely because I use it extensively, at the moment it is the best live chat service around that gives you plenty of options.

I guess you are not always present in the chat (not online).
There is another option If you wish that clients will talk to each other
than you can add social chats, it is usually a free service.

Now if you want to custom the chat look and feel.
This is more hard, but there are chats that can do it.
try to google "chat design"

It really depends on the features you are looking for. If you are looking for free open source, checkout Crafty Syntax Live Help. Crafty is even available from most web hosting cpanel's. Which means you can install it very quickly using the cpanel that comes with your hosting provider.

Otherwise, there are tons of companies out there that has a "Live Help" type of solution. LivePerson, Live2Support, or GoToAssist.

I've personally used LivePerson, Crafty, and GoToAssist. They are all great products. The main difference is freatures, customizability, and type of coding used on the product.

Many websites are using Live2Support on their website to support customers online but Live2Support is not free. Free trial available for 15 days but after free trial, you need to pay $9.99/month. Chat software is developed in PHP and MYSQL.

I also use livezilla. I think that latest version is a paid one ... but if you find an old one ... it will be free.

Try the live chat module in www.focalscope.com. You can rebrand the interface to your needs, and you can even have multiple concurrent chats with customers.

Hi alex.webster,

If you still need live chat for your website, you might want to check http://chatsmithonline.com they offer both the LiveChat software and agents that can support your customer's queries 24/7. They have a monthly fee but the packages are very flexible.

If you're looking to setup your own server back-end, LiveZilla is fairly cheap, but then again nowhere close to the quality of aforementioned LiveChat or Olark.
