View Full Version : GRUB rescue problem - please help

For quite a while I have been using Windows along with OS X split on one disk drive on my MacBook (communication between these 2 OSs was through BootCamp), while main OS was Windows (when computer started, it would boot into Windows). Anyway, that's just for the introduction, and regardless the problem.

Today I installed BackTrack 5 as a dualboot alongside the original Windows/OSX combination, but as it seems I partitioned the disk incorrectly and am now faced with quite a problem.

After the instalation of BackTrack, system went to restart, and now wouldn't boot into any OS that I have, but just stucks right after the Mac logo and says:

error: file not found
grub rescue>

When i hit ls command it prints: (hd0) (hd0,4) (hd0,3) (hd0,2) (hd0,1)

If Windows instal disk is inserted, or Ubuntu Live CD/USB it doesn't recognize it, it is still just stuck into this grub rescue thing.

I am a total newb in this area and would highly appreciate if someone could help me and tell me what can I do. Currently, I can't do a thing with my computer, it's just stuck into grub rescue.
