I'm having trouble getting exporting a mysql database from my current blog because I cant get to the phpmyadmin area I cant get to my host control panel at all. The problem is to get into my cpanel it was mydomain/cpanel and log in from there however I redirected that url to go to a new domain and now it wont work cause it keeps getting redirected.

I also tried to contacting my host but no answer its kind of a mom and pop host very unknown and the guy gave me the hosting for free so I guess I'm not technically a customer but now I'm starting to worry cause the database holds alot of stuff I worked hard on and spent alot of time writing

Is there any other way to do this without phpmyadmin or through the cpanel?

The blog is powered by wordpress and I did see that there is an export import tool in the dashboard would that work? I just don't want to screw it up and lose everything

This is something you'd have to work out with the host. If you are on a shared host it would be unlikely that you'd have SSH access, if you did you could run mysqldump at the command line after logging in.

But if you can't currently get to CPANEL then any shell access you have would also probably not be available.

You did make backups right?

Actually no I never got around to learning how to do that :/ lesson learned. the Wordpress dashboard let's me download a copy of the content in xml format I'm gonna try to import that to the new Wordpress site and see if it works if not ill still have the copy on the old site if I ever get in touch with my host

I read about the mysqldump but that won't work unless I have access to the cpanel right?

you can't run mysqldump from CPANEL, you need to run it from a shell/command line.
