Hi

I'm just finishing up a small php script that keeps stats on page visits.
I noticed not all mobile devices, get logged using the php include method
I know people with blackberry's that never get logged.

and some mobile devices don't even get logged with Javascript, so I use a image tag
inside a noscript tag just in case,

My question is am I over reacting? I know the php include is the best all around way to
do it, I'm looking to hear what others think about logging visits and the methods you would
use.

I know I could use something like piwik, which is the best I have seen out there, I did
install it, but its footprint is way to big for what I need, about 19.2 meg itself and that's
without the geoip database which is about another 5 plus meg.

What page tracking method do you think is the all around fail safe best?
Would you use the php include method and just forget about logging mobile device
hits? or would you use the javascript and noscript image tag approach.

Thanks looking forward to any advice
Sonny

Use the logging that is provided with the web server itself (usually Apache). There are many log file analysis packages available to break down the information in just about any format you'd like.
