This is nothing JavaScript should do, you need some kind of server side script. Moved to the PHP section.

Are you interested in building one yourself, or do you just want someone to google this for you and find one you like?

I already searched google and haven't really found one I like or better said, that looks good for what I need. A long time ago arround 2003, I found one excellent, but forgot the name and cannot find it. It didn't need php. All the entries were setup in a single sheet, do not know the language, maybe ajax? I need someone to help me, either by instructing me to build one, or either by giving me a link to a very very simple guest book, that you cannot find on scripts portals.. Maybe someone wrote one for another person and can give me also the code. I saw something I like integrated on a webpage. Here's the link: http://valaam.ru/en/guestbook/ .Something like this is what I want. Can it be done... somehow? Thanks.

If you intend to save your guest's messages, which I am guessing you are, then you need a server-side language to do the saving, which PHP is. Sure, you can use ASP or ColdFusion, but PHP is the most common server language installed on shared hosting sites.

Even if you use Ajax, you still need to access the server side of things.

So yes, you can code this kind of thing yourself, but it appears you are not all that interested in learning how to do this, since you are really just asking somenoe to do it for you. This forum is a learning forum, so I don't know that you'll get the help you want.

Can I just ask, what's wrong with this one, that came up #2 in a google search?

I consider it very ugly...

Anyway, I was searching and ran across this: http://scripts.tropicalpcsolutions.com/web-files/php/guestbook-php-script.html . Just downloaded and hope to be able to set it up.

I know what kind of forum it is, I am sorry, please forgive my action, but there was no place to turn to, and even though I knew I'll start with the wrong foot, I was hoping to either find an answer either a kick that will set me to the right track. Well I appreciate anyone's answer especially (cause you answered :).

ok, the good news is I downloaded the script above, and I like it. it is already up: http://sfantipa.ro/guestbook.php . Just a few things I want to modify and here I really can use your help.

I want the guestbook to run on my middle column of my site: http://sfantipa.ro/en_contact.html , under the map.

Second I want to have no background, or transparent background so that the main site background will be seen.

And third I want a bigger area where the messages are written so the scrolling will be less...

With font colors and other stuff I can manage, but these are harder for me, as I could not set a background the way it is now :(

If it is to much work to be done, I understand. I will leave it as it is and try a bit harder to compensate with other aspects.

Thanks anyway for your time...

Best wishes.

The script mentioned it was fully customizable as far as colors, sizing, etc. I believe you just use CSS to format the display of it. (Sorry I can't give you more time for this, but if you don't know CSS then that's what you need to learn next)

I know css, I will read carefully the config.php again and maybe I will be able to do something...

Well, I did it: http://sfantipa.ro/en_contact.html .

I also managed to insert the guestbook from tropicalpc (link above) but like this widget more. Thanks for your time.
