Let me open by saying I do not have any formal experience with coding at all, so please excuse my total lack of knowledge here.

I am playing around with a website trying to learn how to do things. I have some basics down but I want to be able to have a username and password field that will capture its contents when the submit button is clicked and store them in a database so I can manually create accounts for the requested users. Could someone help me with some html that would show something like this...

Requested username
(text box)
Requested password
(text box)
Submit(button that captures the content from both text boxes, and stores or emails them to me, then redirects to a confirmation page)

Any help is much appreciated. Security is not an issue as this is just a page for family members, no cc info of personal stuff will be transferred so i do not need to worry about encryption or what not.

You're gonna need to use some server-side language and SQL to insert to your database. Php, coldfusion, asp.net or some other server side will work.

But, the html you would use would be a form:

<form action="myActionPage.html" method="post">
<input type="text" id="username" size="35" />
<input type="password" id="password" size="35" />

or something like that.

Then, like I said, you would use SQL to take the values of the form inputs, and INSERT into the database.

If you google php login scripts, there are tons of free ones out there.
