Help : Major header issues

Hey gang

So long story short I've probably bitten off more than I can chew in taking on redesigning a layout for a website I've become partners in. I know some basics but as I'm doing this I've realized my skill set might not be up to the task. Anyhow at the moment my test site is behind a maintenance mode page so if you want to see what I've muffed up you'll need to log in.

Ok so I guess the basic idea in my head is to have a three tier header.


Tier I : Essentially this would hold the login, maybe some misc links, and probably eventually some social icons.

Tier II : Logo and Ad Space

Tier III : A navigation bar for people to flip to various editions.


As you can I'm not pulling it off very well. Would someone be kind enough to show me what the heck I've done all wrong. I mean ya know besides not being educated enough to pull it off on my own.

You are letting people into the Dashboard of your wordpress site? That doesn't seem like a good idea.

I'm totally unfamiliar with wordpress and don't see any website with a header.

I am. However the role and access of that account is extremely limited. Basically it gives you access to the site but no admin access.
