View Full Version : I need a button that opens a url, delays for 2 seconds, then redirects in that site

I need some help. My wife sells purses and bags via home parties. You can purchase them online through a replicated website, but it's cumbersome for visitor to get to.

The process customers have to use to shop online (and get affiliate credit for) is this:

1. Go to http://www.mythirtyone.com/MelA/
2. Find and click "Place an Order"
3. Click "Place an Order" again
4. Figure out (limited visual cues) how to select "Click Here" if their shopping is unrelated to a home party.
5. Arrive at a catalog
6. Find their products and select

The catalog does not have a visible affiliate code so that you could conceivably like like this:

http://www.mythirtyone.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?prod=3047&consultant=MelA (I'm not a coder by any means)

As you know, the harder it is to buy online, the higher the order abandonment.

The catalog address for all products (regardless of which replicated consultant site you enter through - I've tried many) looks like this (with a different product number at the end of the url):

I'm not sure how they track who gets credit for what sale, but we know it works because we have successfully sold items in this manner and received commission.

Here is what I want to recreate and have been unable to:

This site below has a "Get Your's Today" button on it that has some form of delayed redirect.

I viewed the source code, and it looks like this:

<form action="http://www.MyThirtyOne.com" method="post"> <input onclick="delayLinkFull('http://www.mythirtyone.com/18867/','http://www.mythirtyone.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?prod=3196',3000);return false;" type="button" value="Get Your's Today!" /></form>

When you click the button, a new window appears (the url is http://www.mythirtyone.com/18867/ - the consultant's personal replicated site), holds for 3 seconds, disappears, and the original page you clicked from is now http://www.mythirtyone.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?prod=3196

I want to do something similar, except instead of a button, I want to use an image file.

Her website http://thirtyonegiftsbymel.com has a "Shop Thirty One Now" .jpg file in a widget textbox (we use wordpress). I want to click on the image, have a new window open (that is her affiliate site: http://www.mythirtyone.com/MelA/), pause for a second, and then redirect to the product page (http://www.mythirtyone.com/shop/productdetail.aspx?prod=3196).

How can I do this?? Thanks for the help and I am excited to try your creative solutions...

Just use an image button instead of a regular push button. The code you posted is:

<input onclick="delayLinkFull();return false;" type="button" value="Get Your's Today!" />
And you need:

<input onclick="delayLinkFull();return false;" type="image" src="path/to/image.jpg" alt="Get Your's Today!" />

ok - forward progress. that made my image clickable, but now all that happens is http://www.mythirtyone.com/MelA opens.

For some reason the delayFullLink is not redirecting to the second url.
