I am sure it is possible but I don't know how to do it. I need a diary on our Intranet that users can put their own dates into.

How can I do this?

Cheers Daniel.

not sure exactly what you mean, are you talking about the internet (vrs intranet, two dif setups??). Are you simply wanting a web based site that allows data to be interactive with user such as a profile or blog..

This is for our internal Intranet that we use for our company specific information. I have been asked if I can incorporate a diary system so that there is a company wide diary that all users can book dates into and I guess plan meetings and so forth.

ok well first lots of options come to mind some windows based, some web based, and some others for dif systems. Are you set up on a windows based internal system, or are you set up with workstations such as what we used to call dummystations lol..

there are lots of open source callendar scripts and schedule scripts out there, what kind of internal system are you using..

We have a central server which we hook into with our desktop PC's. We currently have a basic Intranet system that run on IIS but basically has one page with links in it. I am writing a more interactive page but I don't know how to do this calendar / diary part. They want to be able to see peoples appointments and availability and it will need to be web based so that they can access it from the Intranet pages.

well you have some considerations here, first how will it be used..

Will the employees have their own login and update the calendar?
Will it need to be printed or distributed hard copy on a reg basis if at all?

Does the company have a website that they want to include the calendar on (upcomming events sort of thing) or is this only for internal use...

i know that microsoft has quite a few paid solutions for this and thats not really my forte but i might suggest you look at couple things

first one thing i use is

its open source and free..

another thing you might look at is

its modeled after windows office but its free open source and i know its has much of the same kind of options..

one thing is you need to look at lots of options and get a clearer picture of how it will be used and how you want it set up, there is nothing more embarrassing than tossing up a quick solution and getting everyone using it only to find out you have to scrap it for something that really meets your needs...

i hope that helps, i wish i had something more def and precise for you..

Thanks for your reply, I will take a look at those options you suggest. It will be used only internally and its more for booking meetings and seeing who if free on specific dates.

Of course this will depend on how often people update there movements but that it really up to the users, I just have to provide the platform for them.

Ill update this thread after I have had a look at the options you suggest.

Cheers Daniel.
