View Full Version : Utilizing HTML Forms and JavaScript for Data Entry

Hello folks! This is my first time posting here, and I am relatively new to JavaScript.

I have come in need of assistance in guiding me in the right direction. My intentions are to create a web-based page where one can select from a few drop down menu's, and enter a few select pieces of information. This information would then be logged for later purposes, when the user chooses to retrieve this information (during the initial usage, no long term storage) in the format of a report.

Would anyone have sources to similar coded applications, or any ideas of the directions I can go in for further assistance. I have at this point been utilizing the W3 website to learn.

Thanks a ton!

logged where???

JavaScript has no ability to store (relatively) large amounts of data. You need to do that via server-side processing (PHP or ASP or JSP or...).

How will you create the reports? In what format??? Again, JavaScript is only capabile of creating HTML-formatted pages, so printed reports will have headers and footers controlled by the browser, outside of your control.

But as for similar applications...wow. They are all around you. Go book a flight on Expedia. Or order a book from Amazon. Or... Well, it's hard to not pick an example. If you have something more specific in mind, you need to tell us what it is.
