View Full Version : Containing a div inside another div :)

Hello everyone.

I have built a site for a client, but am having a problem with the div elements.
The problem in a nutshell is:

I have contained an area in a div, which is placed inside another div, but when text and images are put into the contained div, the other div does not grow in length also.

Do any of you good people know why this may be happening?

Do any of you good people know why this may be happening? Is there any way to see your page or code?

Okay, now please specify the <div>s that you are having troubles with.

The trouble divs are 'container' 'main' 'maincontent' and 'designs', basically maincontent and designs hold all the information, as they get longer, I want the other divs to get longer also without manually setting the css to: '.maincontent{height:????px;} etc. ' I have made numerous other designs where the page is as long as the content needs it to be, but never with a central area like this one.

You'd need to use the faux column approach (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/blog/entry/css-equal-columns-height-script/) or "Equal Columns Height script (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/blog/entry/css-equal-columns-height-script/)"
