I've inherited a site: http://blackhawkhorses.com

I've done some edits and I'm starting to understand some basic php, but I can't find the main.css file to add styles if needed. I've looked through all the files for the site and I can't find it but it has to be there since css is used. I see a php.css but no main.css.

Where could it be?

Hello vinoman2,
This is all that's in main.css -
/* CSS Document */

@import url(globals.css);
@import url(layout.css);
@import url(colors.css);
@import url(fonts.css);

It can be found at http://blackhawkhorses.com/includes/css/general/main.css

In your document, you load that css with this line -
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="keywords" content="Blackhawk Natural Horsemanship Center, North Plains, Oregon, Horse Riding School,Horse Boarding">

<meta name="description" content="Blackhawk Horses, horse boarding facilities and horse riding school in North Plains, Oregon">

<link href="includes/css/general/main.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >
<link href="css_image.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >
<link href="includes/css/specific/gen_page.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >

That line, and others like it, is invalid. It should be closed with a />

Thank you, but what file do I add the line or lines to?
it's confusing with all the separate pieces.

Do you mean add:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Blackhawk Natural Horsemanship Center, North Plains, Oregon, Horse Riding School,Horse Boarding" />

<meta name="description" content="Blackhawk Horses, horse boarding facilities and horse riding school in North Plains, Oregon" />

<link href="includes/css/general/main.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<link href="css_image.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<link href="includes/css/specific/gen_page.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />

all of this to the main.css file ?

Yes, those look right now.

Check your code in the validators to find those and other errors. See the links about validation in my signature line.

Yes I added the slash lines to the code, but also yes to adding the lines to the main.css file?

sorry,

where am I placing these lines:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Blackhawk Natural Horsemanship Center, North Plains, Oregon, Horse Riding School,Horse Boarding" />

<meta name="description" content="Blackhawk Horses, horse boarding facilities and horse riding school in North Plains, Oregon" />

<link href="includes/css/general/main.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<link href="css_image.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<link href="includes/css/specific/gen_page.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />

in the header tags of every page of the site?

here's what is in the header tags on the home.php page:

<head>
<title>Blackhawk Natural Horsemanship Center :: North Plains Oregon - Horse Riding School - Horse Boarding </title>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta name="keywords" content="Blackhawk Natural Horsemanship Center, North Plains, Oregon, Horse Riding School,Horse Boarding">

<meta name="description" content="Blackhawk Horses, horse boarding facilities and horse riding school in North Plains, Oregon">

<link href="includes/css/general/main.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >
<link href="css_image.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >
<link href="includes/css/specific/gen_page.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >
<link href="includes/css/specific/home.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" >

<style type="text/css">
<!--
li#nav1 a {background-image:url(images/banner/nav_roll_1.jpg);}
-->
</style>
<script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
</head>

what should it be now?

I don't know what belongs in the head of your other pages, depends on what .css files you are linking to for them.
The page I looked at had links to .css files that were invalid. All you needed to do was change the > to /> in those links.

We seem to be quite sidetracked from the original issue. I take it you've found main.css now?
I only mentioned the missing /> because I was telling you everything I could about main.css. There are lots more errors than just the missing closing tags on the links in the head of your document. Have you tried the validator like I suggested?
