View Full Version : Help with webpage skipping down to iframe

03-23-2010, 02:37 PM

I've built a simple webpage with Blue voda.

Video at the top and an ifram under the video showing comments from a blog.

When the page loads it skips straight down to the iframe rather than just loading with the top of the webpage and video showing.

Not ideal as the first thing I want people to see is the video rather than the iframe?

Any ideas how to stop it jumping down or how to make it jump straight back to the top of the page?

I'm new here so THANKS for any help!!

H :)

Nobody is psychic here and can help you if you don’t provide any more information (i. e. a link to the site).

Ah, as I suspected. The reason for the jump is that you are calling a specific page anchor in the iframe URL (namely the “#comments” suffix) which also affects the page you are on. This setup is a little weird anyway since it’s loading the video on the page in the iframe and somebody is talking without the visitor knowing what’s going on since the video is out of sight.

So I can only suggest to rethink this entire approach. What are you trying to achieve? Why aren’t you setting up the commets on the same page but load an entire page in the iframe?

Thanks for your help.

The reason I tried it like that is because I don't want people to see the whole blog.

But I do want them to see the comments from the blog...

I'll have to re-think.

Thanks for your help!

I don’t know how you’re doing it but you could put a database query where the comments are supposed to appear. That means you include the comments directly in your page from the database where they are stored. No need for an iframe or whatever. However, as this is PHP/SQL related I can’t help very much in this respect. You may have better luck by asking in the PHP forum about that.
