View Full Version : controller="true" not working for embedded video

Mar 15th, 2010, 08:54 PM
Hi all,

Sorry for the newbie question but I have been uploading some mp4 videos to my website and find that the play, seek etc controls are visible in IE7 however when I get home and look at my site on IE8 and Chrome, the controls are missing. There are just black squares where the video displays and the only way to play the videos is by double clicking the black area.

The code is as follows and any help would be much appreciated:

<object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab" width="360" height="295">
<param name="src" value="LouiseSpencer.mp4">
<param name="autoplay" value="false">
<param name="controller" value="true"><embed height="295" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" src="LouiseSpencer.mp4" type="video/quicktime" width="360" controller="true" autoplay="false">

im not convinced i'll get a reply for this as I dont think I ever have on this site, however I've abandoned this format and moved to flash.Just wish I knew why a nice high quality flash video when played on a pc, becomes a much lower quality video when embedded in my page..

Embedding pure videos or audio requires certain browser plugins to be installed. If they aren’t then it ain’t workin’. Using Flash is currently the most widely supported method.

thank you for your reply Stephan. I've come round to the idea of flash and I'm even happy to lose the quality after uploading. However I've spent three days trying to get the correct code to embed multiple Flowplayers in one page, however its just not working!

Has anyone had any experience of using flowplayer to embed multiple players? Ive seen code around and tried it but it must be conflicting with something in my existing code (below). Does anyone know how I can amend the below to be able to put another player in?

p.s - this is probably a mess as I've been editing it myself and I'm a newbie

I’ve only had a short encounter with Flowplayer but look at this page (http://www.uscrybe.com/learn.html), and especially at the JS file (http://uscrybe.com/js/scrybe.js). That’s probably the most effective way to embed multiple players.
