ive been messing around with html and css to get better at it and im having difficulty trying to make this navi bar. i made it vertically no problem, but it doesnt stay the way i want it to when i try and make it horizontally. i tried display:inline and display:block-inline but its not working =/.
any advice? also, the a:hover stuff doesnt work in IE. :(

another noob question. how can i change my forum settings so it stops logging me out? i have to keep logging in to reply. usually it signs me out about every hour.

Hello metathirteen,
Some changes to try -
#navi{
margin-top:1em;
margin-left:2em;
width:82px;
}
#navi ul{
/*width:82px; 82? for the whole ul? really?*/
width: 400px;
background: #f00;
overflow: auto;
padding:0px;
}
#navi li {
float: left;
text-align:center;
list-style:none;
background-color:yellow;
}
#navi li a{
display:block;
padding: 0 20px;
border:3px outset pink;
}

#navi li a:hover{
display:block;
background-color:blue;
border:3px black inset;
}

Have a look at some horizontal menus here (http://nopeople.com/design/CSS%20tips/index.html).
