If I were to set up a site with a simple navigation bar that I wanted to be 20px high and 300px wide, I could slice a single pixel in Photoshop and just manipulate the navigation in the CSS, correct? If so, is this the normal way it's done for plain navigations (ones without effects such as buttons)?

Hello JJackson,
I'm not clear what the 1px slice is supposed to do. Couldn't you just set a background color and accomplish the same thing?

I have several menu demos here (http://nopeople.com/design/CSS%20tips/index.html), if you'd like to have a look.

You can do it by using repeat-x and repeat-y attributes in css. But this may cause undesirable design.

The better way is to make an image with 1px width and of 25px height and make use of repeat-x for 300px

Hope that make sense
