View Full Version : framesets or DW templates

some years ago I heard that framesets were to be avoided in order to do clean-html code
Now I have a site with 10 small pages, and some sections (footer, menubar, title,...) is repeated again and again.

What is the proper way to save time and typing and, nevertheless, stick to clean-html-CSS? Framesets? Dreamweaver templates (which I don't like)?

Hello amc,
I never liked DW templates either, and you're right to avoid frames.

I use PHP includes for things like menus that stay constant over a number of different pages.
Have a look at a basic tutorial here (http://www.tizag.com/phpT/include.php). Very quick and simple to implement.

thanks. i see that PHP is a server side language. My provider doesn't support this for my current contract.

Perhaps I might develop it locally, and generate the final html out of the php components, and then upload the final html . Is it feasible?
