Hi All,

I have an ASP Application already running on Windows and IIS, but I now want to move the Application to Solaris and Apache. I am a novice to PHP, Please how do I get my Application run on Apache, or converting ASP to PHP seamlessly.

It depends on how well written your ASP application is. If it is quite modular then converting over to PHP won't be as hard. You would just take each module and write an equivalent module in PHP.

The syntax of ASP/VBscript is completely different from PHP(and all other common used languages) of course since ASP/VBScript is a Micro$oft virus....i mean bug....errrr i mean language. :D

If you are a programmer of C++ or Java or if you even know javascript then learning PHP won't take long. I would spend some time learning PHP and practicing a bit first before attempting a conversion else have someone that knows both do it for you.

lol Spookster :D

I started with a bit of ASP, and I gave up after a week or so, PHP is much more versatile. What kind of system do you want to re-write?

We've had a topic concerning that software:

I've never used the software myself so I cannot vouch for it. From my experience though I couldn't see something like that working well. It would be great if it did but I just don't see it happening.

I'm developing a good convertor, it's called Mhtml. :D It'll take a few more weeks to perfect I think but it'll be good at converting ASP to PHP but not PHP to ASP because degrading your own work isn't a good idea.

I'm sure I'll be able to help you convert ASP into PHP. :D
