Hello,

I am learning to code XHTML and CSS. Should I learn "strict" or "transitional"?

I am a beginner, so I don't need to unlearn anything.

I plan to use external CSS sheets for web design.

I don't really know what these two terms mean. But "strict" seems to be newer, so maybe I should learn that one, rather than learn an older coding style.

I am only designing my own sites. So I don't have a requirement to learn "legacy code".

Transitional is for sites that are using elements that have been deprecated and are transitioning to current standards, hence the term transitional. No new web sites should ever use transitional. Always use strict for new pages.
