View Full Version : Layout & Look

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of setting up a hosting company and have drawn up the following logo as a bit of a working progress while i get things started...

Now I'm a bit stuck to be honest! Was wondering what your thoughts where on the current logo and whether anybody has any ideas for a layout.

Or if anybody is interested in *cheaply* creating a layout, or new logo, for me that I might be able to buy?

Your fonts are really jagged...

Your fonts are really jagged...

Erm, Okay... thanks?

Well you asked for thoughts on your logo. Your logo has really ragged edges. It looks strange and unfinished. It's a good idea, it just needs to be smoothed.

I know I did; just didn't expect anybody to formulate their thoughts in an unconstructive manner. Never really seen it before on these forums :P People usually go into detail.

Sorry if I came across as ungrateful or anything; I'm not at all and have jotted your feedback down. Was just - surprised I guess.

I'm a very critical person. I think it's quite useless to tell you what you've done well (because I do like it, it reminds me of nightclubs and glowing things), and there's not much I can offer to construct on jagged edges. Make them unjagged? I don't know. Anything else is fluff, really. Sorry if I appeared brash.

I thought that was pretty constructive. "It sucks" is unconstructive. Giving you a specific issue to address is constructive.

Meanwhile, I can't see the logo; it's blocked at work :(

I like the logo and motto. It does look a little blurry though which could send the wrong message. Have you tried the same design and color with a normal/sharp appearance? Also, what are you trying to say with all the rainbow colors?

hi weir-07

I think it depends on what you want to say about your brand and what your target audience is. In my opinion the word "intimate" suggests cosy and friendly, but your capital letters and black background don't reflect this. They look to me like a neon sign, and here the word intimate could suggest something sexual. Are you hosting porn sites? If you are, the glossy neon look suggests a strip bar, in which case your design is good. If not however, I think it could be quite intrusive and off putting. I suggest you give us a run down of what you want to achieve in terms of your brand style and status, what your website is going to host, and who your target audience are, and then we might be able to give you more specific advice.

hope this has helped :)

I agree with spiritualized, the words really don't say anything about your brand, but the style says a lot. Have you anti aliased your fonts?

@Fumigator its at deviant art

I could make suggestions, but it really depends on the message. However here are a couple things regardless.

1) The colors are so bright and its hard to read.
2) It would not be good on white (and the gray version you have is a whole different logo scheme), so it doesn't seem to me to have a complimentary version on a white background.
3) The spacing of the letters is purposeful, but still limits the reading ability. For example NET is still so close that one assumes its just one word. It takes a second for my eyes to adjust and grasp the text, which I think is not good for a logo.
4) As far as the glow and reflection, again those make certain statements. Glow says to me that you are reaching for attention, and reflection says you are trying to be trendy. I don't know if that is something to change or not, just something to know how I perceive the logo.

There is something with the tagline that I can't place exactly, but there really isn't anything about your logo or tagline that says 'hosting'. It lacks a defined something that would give the impression of hosting at first glance.

Best regards
