on some sites when you register, you enter:
1. your nick
2. your pwd
3. your mail

then you get confirmation mail, and you confirm

And then you get notified that you wil realy become member only after admin approwal. And you become one after admin approwes.

What is the point here, except admin having extra work ?

It can easily prevent the misuse of other's email-id or giving fake email-id.

Sometimes it is to stop spammers, sometimes it is to control the people who gain access to the forum and I expect sometimes it is for another reason but basically its for control.
