View Full Version : Switching .gif banners . . .

I run animated .gif banners on my website and I would like to be able to have a couple set-up to use the same spot, but run each one at different times. At this time, I go into the code and comment out one and uncomment the other , voila done.

How could I have them switch running every few minutes, so a user would end up seeing them both. I have seen it done on some sites and alot of sites offer shared banner time. How it this done? Thanks

You could do it with javascript or a server side language. A server side language wouldn't depend on javascript being enabled. What server side languages does your host support? Does it support php?

What I can tell you is html/css won't be able to do what you want.

I'm running a vBulletin Forum (like this one) and yes of course, PHP is supported, Thanks

Well how exactly would want them switching? Once every 5 minutes the user is on the site or would you want it to be random? Or switch on every page load?

Every couple of minutes when a user is on the site, or every refresh (page load). I'm not fussy. I assume, once I learn how . . . I can play aroiund with it or even use it for 3 banners, thanks allot . . .
