I need to write scripts which when executed enable registry changes like:

1.delete cached copies of roaming profiles.
2.add log off to start menu

How do I go about this?

Windows Script Host 5.6 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?URL=/downloads/sample.asp?url=/msdn-files/027/001/733/msdncompositedoc.xml)
Windows Script Documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?url=/downloads/sample.asp?url=/msdn-files/027/001/728/msdncompositedoc.xml&frame=true)

you should make sure that the computers you'll be using have the newest version of the scripting host. that's 5.6, which i've linked to. the second link, is a huge ( and really useful ) help file for writing Windows Scripts. it's full of examples, many of which can simply be copied and pasted.

also, you might want to check out http://www.winguides.com/registry/ , which has a bunch of information about the windows registry. most of it is for performance tweaking, but it might have the information you need.
