View Full Version : URL_rewrite .htaccess

Quick question.

Going forth in the venture of optimizing my database driven site to be more SEO friendly, what would be the CONS of using URL_rewrite with .htaccess to provide proper URLs to search engines?

Everything I have read so far says GO GO GO but from past experience there is always a down side to everything.

Any thoughts?

Something makes me think I posted this in the wrong area.
Admin would you be kind and delete this Topic?

Hows about I just move it for you instead?
Since this is more of a discussion than a programming thing, I think general webbuilding is the best forum for this.

using .htaccess slows down your server

as the apache HTTP server docs in the .htaccess section says,

In general, you should never use .htaccess files unless you don't have access to the main server configuration file.

unless your server is really low on resources, you'll never notice a difference in performance.
