I am trying to figure out how to get a working search function for my site that can search through html AND pdf files. If it won't search pdf, that is fine, but this feature would be nice. If there is some place on the net with code to propperly install and use a search feature, i would love to know where. I could use frontpages, but with their web bot hoohawww its not all that good for getting custom items to appear, like an image instead of the search button.

Thank you,

-Steve

Do you have PHP on your server? I've heard great things about DGS Search (http://www.digitalgenesis.com/software/dgssearch.html)

I think I do, but i will have to check. I know it is an NT box at work here, and I had tried using Fluid Dynamics

http://www.xav.com/scripts/search/install.html

but could not get it to work right. I belive since it is an NT box, the paths to perl were wrong.

Anyways let me check this out and if anyone finds anything else, please let me know

Thanks,

-Steve

After doing some investigating and not thinking PHP works, i think MS Index Server is the way i need to go.

I just don't know where to start on this. We are running IIS4.0 so i know thats complient, but on an NT box. So, in terms of getting it to work propperly and configured using a custom iqd file is beyond me. HELP!!! anyone who knows about this stuff. . .please let me know.

Thanks,

-Steve
