Hello, please could someone take a look at my code as I can't seem to get my footer to show. I have double checked and all images are uploaded. Both XHTML and CSS can be found here: http://jrcdesigns.co.uk/reviewsite/ in the source: View -> Source.

I'm learning so also any tips, suggestions or ways to improve my code are welcomed.

Thanks!
James

#footer {
background-image:url(images/footer.gif);
color:#B2B2B2;
font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
font-size:12px;
height:69px;
clear:left;
}

Change the float: left to clear: left and then give it a height. The background image is 69px so thats what I used.

Hi there,

if you change your css to this

#footer{
clear:both;
background:url(images/footer.gif) repeat-y scroll;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size:12px;
color:#b2b2b2;
height: 70px
width: 863px;
}
And fill the footer div with some text:

<div id="footer">Hello World!</div>

The footer appears where I believe you want it. Not sure exactly how you wanted it but that will get it to show.

Thanks for the help. I did what you said, it displays in the right place now but the background image isn't showing. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

#footer{
clear:both;
background:url(images/footer.gif) top left repeat-x; /* you want it to repeat on the X axis */
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size:12px;
color:#b2b2b2;
height: 70px; /* missing semi-colon */
width: 863px;
}

Yes sorry about that, you had repeat-y in your original code and Ididnt even think about a 1pixel wide image repeating y wont be visible. Nice catch harbinger :)

haha lol thanks so much, It's always the silly mistakes that get me!

I have another problem:

http://jrcdesigns.co.uk/reviewsite/style.css

I tried to implement two side glows, this consists of two images on either side, one a curved glow at the top and the other is a 1px to repeat all the way down. I can't get the 1px repeating glow to run down the sides, what must I do?
