I'm not sure as it's been a LONG while since I used a chromeless window. My advice is not to use it though... they're soooooooo sloooooooooow.

I think IE stopped supporting them due to some security issues. I'm not sure what version, but if you have IE6, it probably won't work.

o... but i just saw this site that had it.... and i viewed it just fine, it was pretty fast too... and im running on XP and ie6

no problems here

Here's one simple way:

<script language="JavaScript">
function launchwin(page) {
<a href="javascript:launchwin('content.html')";>click here to open it.</a>

Promise me that you'll put an obvious exit button in the top right though!! ; )) Microbians script ok only when you need resizable chromeless windows, but in that case, check his site for help files.

whoa... hahaha full screen

thats cool, but not really what i wanted. my site has nonresizeable scrollbars but i wanted to customize the chrome to something else ( like microbians) but i cant seem to get it to work =\

but i guess like the warning says.. xp doesnt support it... but i know a site that has it and it works just fine... :(

I think I can help. :)

I still like chromeless windows, no matter what - my sites are my art, don't like it.... sorry. ;)

Anyway, what does the error say exactly, or do you have a URL where I can go and see it?

(just a suggestion - loose the no-right click script: my pet peeve) :)

Chromeless windows will not work if you have XP, IE6, and install service pack 1. So anyone who keeps their computer up to date will not see chromeless windows. Here's the link on dynamic drive where I read this:

edit: it's kind of like the opposite of supporting Netscape for users who upgrade too slowly :)

Won't work on any windows OS/IE6/SP1. Just opens fullscreen...

If you code your site for that problem, it can still look nice. I've got it so if the page opens fullscreen, everything is still nice and centered (used FRAMES).

There's also another Chromeless2 code that will open on IE6 w/SP1... But unfortunately it doesn't seem to like FRAMES or outside linking. Sites using iFRAMES won't show up either.

Another option is to have JavaScript detect if your visitors IE browser has SP1 installed. If so, you could have JavaScript open the page a certain size:

window.open('Page2.html','NewWindow','toolbar=no,status=no,scrollbars=no,location=no,menubar=no,dire ctories=no,width=400,height=250')

If no SP1, then a link could provide normal Chromeless access! :)

I'm running windows xp and followed the above posted link to dynamic drive. Clicked the link and got google to open. Chromeless works fine here. I've worked with them in windows millenium edition, and they are so easy to screw up. My advice is to go follow the instructors at dynamic drive to get reinstalled on your machine, then just change urls to begin with to your own, and just take it one step at a time.

Chromelss are pretty cool, though!
