View Full Version : Curious about common website feature

I have seen a lot of web sites that have a little box off center that has its own little scroll bar where they have very small text with little pixely things to adopt. They're usually about 250 x 350 pixels. I would like to have one of those little off-center boxes and I don't know if it's possible using html or what.. so Help, please! If anything, please tell me what they are called so I can research it myself. Thanks!

If it's not a shoutbox (what Jamie suggested), give us a link to a site with what you're asking about.

Turquoise ... where in MN are you at?

Actually, it isn't a shoutbox, although I was indeed wondering what that thing was called. I searched around and finally found a good example (http://www.angelfire.com/art3/megasprites/). Thanks! You guys are really nice!

Stillwater. ^^ I see you live about 40 minutes away from here. I have a couple of friends who live down there.

Actually, haha, on the page that I found it on, I found a link for that thing and I guess it's called a tagboard. BUT, I'd like to have a box like that which I can put little pictures in.. so I guess I should look for a different example.. uu;

THIS (http://www.geocities.com/chibisweetheart/pixels.html) is a good example, although I'd still like to be able to have people scroll up and down in the little box rather than the whole page moving.

Turquoise ... I was born in Stillwater ... about 15 miles from Cottage Grove.
CG is just south of Woodbury.

That example is in fact a type of shoutbox.

You were born here? Cool. Were you born at Lakeview?

At the "old" Lakeview hospital, now torn down.
The new (existing) hospital was not yet opened in Feb. 1961 (under construction).
Grew up on N. 1st street, above the old prison.

Oh, cool! I was just there and I was looking at all the pictures of how it progressed from a local home into what it is now.

Where is/was the old prison? (I'm only familiar with the bayport one)
