View Full Version : Disabling Auto-Start on Videos

Mar 3rd, 2008, 02:24 AM
Hello I'm trying to disable a video from automatically starting when the page loads. Usually i'd see something like autostart="no" or something like that but I don't this time, and i'm not sure where to add it.

I was hoping somebody could help me please, thanks.

Here's the code:

<div style="width:491px;background-image:url(http://cdn-www.expertvillage.com/im/extbg.gif);background-repeat:repeat-x;overflow:hidden;" >
<a href="http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/install-brakes-jack-up.htm" style="color:#003399;font-size:12px;font-family:Sans-Serif;display:block;padding:4px;">

<param name="movie" value="http://www.expertvillage.com/player.swf?flv=install-brakes-jack-up">

in the <embed> tags i did find something called play i changed that to false but it didn't do anything.

I'll appreciate any help thanks.

You aren't going to. If the video player wasn't designed to have an autostart parameter passed to it then you aren't going to be able to prevent the autostart.

You need to add in additional parameter "autostart=false"

I'm not at my computer right now to edit that but when I get there later would i just put it in like this:

<param name="autostart" value="false">

No. Doing that isn't going to work. The player needs to be setup that way. This player wasn't setup that way.

How would one fix the suto start problem when using multiple embeded video's if they were being hosted at www.adpost.com. I would have thought a simple HTML code change would disable the auto-start feature. Maybe the player won't allow the fix.
Any Ideas, help?
