View Full Version : Getting two lines of text on CSS tabs

Feb 29th, 2008, 11:30 PM
Hi there, this problem has been annoying me for some time. Myself and a colleague of mine have been developing a website for a company and are having some trouble getting two lines of text in the tabs that are using to navigate around the site.

Putting <br/> in between the words puts the proceeding tabs on a new line thus messing up the whole menu system. I am led to believe that its a CSS issue but I could not be sure. Any help will be greatly appreciated as its been driving me mad for months.

If any more information is required then please let me know.

so you want two words, right under each other in the navigation tabs?

Yes indeed, sorry if I didn't make that very clear.

You need to float the lis to the left and then clear the floats. You can add two lines of text but you'll need to do it for every tab or it won't look right, e.g. one tab will be higher than the other.

Okay, so would I have to 'float: left;' under ul and then 'clear:left' under li?

I have just had a mess about with that, I can put a <br/> in one of the links to show and example of what happens if that would help?.

I know what happens. I said you needed to float the li elements and then you need to clear the floats or set a height to the ul element.
